ST20/11 SYSTEM

This is one of the most compact positioning and communication on-board logic control units available in the market, combining high performance and flexibility to ensure easy installation in any type of vehicle.

The system shown here, entirely developed and produced in Italy, allows the acquisition of vehicle positioning and other data, as well as its processing, storage and transmission to a trackside system through a GSM/GPRS connection.

The distinguishing feature lies in the inclusion of up to 8 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs, allowing a high level of expandability and therefore satisfying the numerous technical demands of end users.

Main functions

Positioning

Vehicle positioning acquisition after a predefined distance and/or period of time, for example after reaching predefined geo-referenced points, when specific circumstances are verified or further to a request by the trackside system.

Telemetry and alarms

Measuring and recording of on-board parameters through the device inputs. In the event of abnormal readings, the system can automatically send alarms to predefined recipients. If the vehicle is equipped with a CAN bus FMS interface, data regarding vehicle use can be acquired including fuel level readings.

If the FMS/CAN interface is not available, the fuel level reading can be acquired through a fuel probe installed directly on-board the vehicle.

Data storage and periodic download

Local storage of positioning, times, telemetric and all other data, according to a configurable logic.

An extractable mass storage system on microSD is also included, on which data relative to on-board system functions can be recorded in the absence of GPRS coverage.

Two-way communication

The data acquired on-board is automatically radio-transmitted to the trackside system either periodically, after each event, or further to a request by the Operations Centre. If GPRS coverage is temporarily not available, the data will be stored on-board and downloaded when the vehicle returns to an area with GPRS coverage. Updates are also possible from the trackside system through the GPRS connection.
